Tobias Klöpf, born 90, Rheinhausen / Breisgau
Who else is in your family?
First and foremost my better half Natascha and together we have a cellar full of bikes.
What is your profession? What do you like about it?
In addition to my Business Administration Master, I have built up a number of freelance businesses in the travel industry. Moderator, congress organiser, member of the executive committee of a business club, teaching assignments at universities, guide for transalpine tours.
What do sport in general and mountain biking in particular mean to you?
Everything! Balance, valve and turbo booster for a more intense life. Mountain biking is the perfect symbiosis of nature, adrenaline, nice people and culinary delights.
Is there anything else for you other than work and mountain biking?
Sure! triathlon, duathlon, trail running, mountaineering. =)
What memories/experiences have you had with MaXalami?
Especially in races and transalpine tours a safe companion.
How do you manage to harmonize your training with work and family or friends?
It has to be combined with each other. The travel industry allows this.
How many hours a week do you work and how many do you train?
In winter more work than sport, in summer sport is partly work and predominates especially in Q3.
Do you adapt your diet to your sport and what do you pay attention to?
In principle we pay attention to high-quality products, nothing industrially processed, regional, partly organic, little meat, much fat - the best olive oil and linseed oil, no simple sugar, little alcohol, lots of vegetables and salad, ginger and turmeric to the point of waving, lots of spices and herbs, every morning a spoonful of honey and 5 almonds, and always everything varied and colorful. Eating must be fun and dieting or doing without is counterproductive in my opinion.
What does a typical day during the week look like for you?
There's no such thing.
What do you particularly like to remember in the past season?
The Engadin Bike Giro, the Ronda Extrema in Riva, Mesa Parts Trail Hero and the Ironman 70.3 in Kraichgau. Also the Five Transalp-Tours which are for me still the biker heaven on earth.
What goals have you set yourself for the 2020 season?
Focus more on Cross-Triathlon. To get through the season completely free of breakdowns again. Pepi's Tire Noodles and Maxalamis are the secret weapons.
Tobi, thanks for the interview. Go for it!
